The Arhuaco tribe has existed since the Pre-Columbian era, and their culture is a true reflection of our past. The "Elder Brothers," as they call themselves, have been isolated in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a vast area encompassing diverse ecosystems from sea level to snow-capped mountains.
Coffee is believed to have the power to share the Arhuaco message of Earth preservation with us, the "Younger Brothers." With deep respect for their ancient practices, we now offer their coffee to the world, supporting their mission of caring for Mother Earth.
The Younger Brothers has directly sourced this coffee from Arhuaco indigenous families in the sacred mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia. The Arhuaco coffee practices focus on the conservation and restoration of nature, which are fundamental principles of their "Law of Origin" or "Law of Knowing."
The Younger Brothers Trading Company's mission-driven philosophy sources authentic indigenous products from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, through conservation projects and a decade-long friendship with the Kogi "Mamos" (spiritual elders) and Arhuaco community leaders, who have given this coffee their sacred blessing.
The coffee is organic, pesticide-free, and hand-picked at the precise moment of peak ripeness. Drinking a cup of The Younger Brothers Arhuaco coffee just feels good, with varieties like Arhuaco Medium Roast, Kogi Medium Roast, Kogi Sauna Family Medium Roast, and Kogi Espresso Roast.
The Kogi and Arhuaco are known as the Protectors of the Earth, not because they are warlike, but because they are masters of working with Mother Nature. Their cultivation methods follow the wisdom of their spiritual elders, the "Mamos," who guide the people on where to plant, how to raise their crops, and serve as authorities in all matters.
The Kogi and Arhuaco refuse to get their crops certified as organic, not because they are not organic, but because they believe outsiders have no right to come and tell them how to grow their crops. Their farms are located deep in the Colombian mountains, far from paved roads and civilization, making it impossible to be any more organic.
The Younger Brothers coffee is not certified organic, but it is as organic as naturally possible. It is grown in the wild, blessed by the Mamos, and harvested in the tradition of the indigenous people. We call it "Wild Organic" or "Indigenous Organic" to properly represent the authenticity and purity of these coffee beans.
